RMC was established in 1986 as a full-service architectural firm, designing projects for both the public and private sectors. Our office was designed by RMC and is in downtown Bellingham’s Marketplace Building amid thriving locally owned restaurants, coffee houses, and shops. Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator

Under the supervision of the Accountant, processes semi-monthly payroll, maintains HR files, and acts as assistant for Accountant in processing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and monthly reporting. Job is estimated to be 8-10 hours per week, with fluctuations week-to-week and time of year. This position is intended to have room for growth at which time hours will increase.

Examples of Duties:

  • Checking timesheets for accuracy and calculating overtime
  • Entering data into databases and spreadsheets
  • Handling direct deposit requests and other requests from staff
  • Processing payroll checks for distribution
  • Processing retirement contributions and other payroll deductions
  • Making adjustments in pay for raises and bonuses
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records
  • Ensures company is compliant with current state and federal payroll and HR laws
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, employee offered benefits, and retirement plan providers
  • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation
  • Responds to census requests
  • Provides monthly vacation and sick time reports to staff per State requirements
  • Acts as an assistant for Accountant in processing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and monthly reporting
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 4 Years Payroll/HR experience
  • A.A. Degree in Accounting or Business, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of current WA and federal payroll and HR laws
  • Excellent math skills
  • Accounting and Bookkeeping skills
  • Record-keeping skills
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines
  • Sound decision-making skills

Architectural Designer (1 - 3 Years Experience)

We are seeking a recent college graduate with 1-3 years of experience. Starting salary ranges from $54,000 – $58,000 plus benefits and end of year bonus and is dependent upon experience. We strive for work/life balance, and offer competitive salary; paid personal, vacation, and holidays; continuing education; healthcare benefits and a retirement plan with up to 3% salary match.

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about growing their skill set, brings flexibility to their project teams, has strong technical abilities, and meets the following criteria:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in architecture with an accredited architecture program
  • Excellent graphic and presentation drawing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively through all phases of project delivery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam a must
  • Proficiency with SketchUp, rendering software, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus

We strive for work/life balance, and offer competitive salary; paid personal, vacation, and holidays; continuing education; healthcare benefits and a retirement plan with up to 3% salary match.

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about architecture and sustainability, pursues design excellence regardless of project size, has strong technical abilities, and meets the following criteria:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in architecture with an accredited architecture program
  • Excellent graphic and presentation drawing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively through all phases of project delivery and coordinate with clients and consultant teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exemplifies leadership potential
