The design of these 12 luxury condominiums in Bellingham’s historical Fairhaven District provides owners with amenities that set them apart from similar multi-family housing in this region. The unit sizes, use of natural light, and connection to outdoor areas are qualities that make 10th and Taylor condominiums unique. Each unit is 2,000 – 2,200 sf and includes double master suites and open living spaces oriented toward partial water views. The design is also compatible with upscale Chrysalis Inn & Spa located across the street. Together, the condominiums and hotel create an urban border for the Fairhaven District.
To maximize natural light, the design strategy was to divide the condominiums into two structures, so daylight pours into three sides of each unit. Setting the buildings at either end of the site creates space for a landscaped courtyard and takes advantage of water views. The landscape concept involved creation of “outdoor rooms” that connect the buildings to the courtyard and adjacent public parks.
