Anacortes, located on Fidalgo Island, is the destination point for the San Juan Islands and home of the Washington State Ferry Terminal. RMC has been working with Port of Anacortes for the past seven years on a variety of projects to revitalize both the west and north basin, including their busy Cap Sante Marina RV Park. An important part of this development is the 900 sf pavilion providing showers, toilets, two fully accessible family shower and toilet rooms, and laundry facilities. The project opened to great success with 100% occupancy at the RV park.
Located on a former gravel lot, the site was previously designated as overflow parking for the Marina tenants to limited success. Transformed into the new RV Park with 25 stalls and a parking lot, the Port envisioned the new facility to set a high design standard for other buildings in the north and west basin. In addition to wood, metal siding, exposed architectural concrete, and glazing, the project repurposes elements from the decommissioned historic livery stable, including the barn door at the end of the hallway. The project also meets the rigorous energy codes in addition to the inclusion of photovoltaic panels, the first for Port of Anacortes buildings. The spaces are bright and pleasing with the inclusion of wood and abundant natural light.
