An urban village by design, the Barkley Company and the City of Bellingham shared a long-term vision of the Barkley District as a walkable, live-work neighborhood that’s also a shopping and entertainment destination for the wider community. The Cornerstone Project assists making that vision a reality by creating 116 studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments to the district mix as the first large market rate rental property. The 6-level (4 over 2) building offers residents an elevated private courtyard that sits above street-level service businesses and secure parking. Residents also share a bike shop, exercise facilities and common entertainment spaces.
