Whatcom Community College’s (WCC) Kulshan Hall houses labs, classrooms, and offices for the chemistry and biology departments. The project scope was to convert an existing classroom into a flexible lab accommodating the special requirements of both fields of study in a 21st century learning space.
The renovation of the 1,280-sf ground floor space included the installation of new countertops, work islands, and laboratory casework to comply with Universal Access standards. Mechanical system upgrades and extensions to support ventilation were an important component of the design. Site safety was paramount to completing this project on an occupied in addition to deft project coordination for minimal disruption to students.
