Spring Street Landing transforms a key section of Friday Harbor’s waterfront experience as part of the replacement of a 1960s-era building that burned in 2013. Creating a gracious public gathering place along the waterfront, the two-level structure housing retail and restaurant tenants anchors a street-level plaza that invites lingering with beautiful harbor views and outdoor seating.

Below, an esplanade replaces an old parking lot, curving around the lower level of the building and connecting it with the waterfront. The plaza links to this scenic walkway through a sculptural public stair while the railing between plaza, esplanade, and revamped bulkhead helps unify separate projects. The 8,800 sf building meets stringent requirements of the town’s Historic Preservation Review Board, blending with nearby downtown buildings and forming a new public asset for Friday Harbor.
