RMC Architects is excited to welcome three new members to our architectural design team. Their fresh perspectives and diverse talents have quickly become a meaningful addition to our firm, supporting our commitment to thoughtful, community‑focused design.

Sara Tomczak is a licensed architect with a multidisciplinary background. She earned a Master of Architecture from the NewSchool of Architecture & Design in San Diego, CA, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Washington. Before joining RMC, Sara practiced architecture in Seattle and Mount Vernon and furthered her industry experience in Bellingham working in architecture, interior design and construction management, giving her a well-rounded understanding of the integrated process of project execution.
Sara is currently contributing her design leadership to the Port of Anacortes Event Facility, Lynden Door Headquarters, and the Bellingham Housing Authority’s Unity Street Apartments.
Aidan Bird is a licensed architect with varied experience in architectural design and entitlements for custom residential, mixed-use housing, K-12 and Higher Ed, as well as high-rise commercial projects. He earned his Master of Architecture degree from the UCLA Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning and his Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Colorado, Boulder, as he says, “Surf and Turf”. Before moving to Bellingham, Aidan worked with design firms in California and Seattle.
At RMC, Aidan is applying his expertise to several key projects, including Millworks Phase 2, the Whatcom County Justice Center, and the Port of Anacortes Event Facility.


Liam Mitchell is a recent graduate of Washington State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Architecture, with previous experience practicing residential design. A Whatcom County native, Liam loves the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and is passionate about all things design and construction. He joined RMC for their community driven approach to civic design and history of impactful work.
Since joining RMC, Liam has contributed to a variety of projects including the SWIFT Center Assembly Hall and renovations at Skagit Valley College, Whatcom Community College, and Bellingham Technical College.
