Joe Martin (1909-1981) was a Bellingham baseball legend: Whatcom High School star pitcher, semi-pro player, and Bellingham Bells founder in 1941. He was also the manager, groundskeeper, and chief booster for the Bells. In 1980, Joe learned that the city’s new baseball facility at Civic Field would be named after him. Thirty-five years later, RMC worked with DA Hogan & Associates to implement major upgrades at the facility that bears his name. We like to think Joe would be proud to see the new larger, more accessible dugouts that accommodate athletes of all abilities, and complement more than 120,000 square feet of new baseball infield, outfield, and warning track. The new synthetic turf outfield is also available for soccer, lacrosse, and other sports.
